    “What happens if I am late for the auditions?”

    We will give you complete audition instructions at the time you register and receive your bib. Everyone MUST show up for the audition on the scheduled day, 30 minutes prior to the time specified by the Amarillo’s Idol Producers. If you are late, you may not have a chance to audition. Our advice: BE ON TIME ALL THE TIME. Continue checking our website at www.myhighplains.com for audition details.

    Yes, registration and auditions will be cattle call style. Contestants should remain in the area until judges make their final decision.

    “Do you charge for the auditions?”

    No. Auditions are free. Bibs are free. You just have to be physically present to get one and you cannot audition without them. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THE BIBS AND THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE. IF SOMEONE APPROACHES YOU TRYING TO BUY OR SELL A BIB, PLEASE ADVISE A MEMBER OF PRODUCER'S STAFF IMMEDIATELY.

    “Is there a charge for parking at the venue(s)?”
    There is no charge for parking in designated areas at this event. The Producers, KCIT, KAMR or sponsors are not responsible for any tickets that might be assessed for parking in areas that are not designated for this event.

    “Where do I get the release form and where do I send it once it has been completed?”

    The registration form is incorporated into our release form.  You can obtain the release/registration form from our website at www.myhighplains.com  or pick up a copy at Amarillo’s FOX 14 at 1015 South Fillmore in Amarillo. You should bring the SIGNED release form (and your 2 forms of ID that show proof of your age, one with a photograph) with you and make sure that it is filled out and signed before you arrive at the registration. This will help us expedite your registration process. Remember, if you are a minor, you and your parent or legal guardian MUST be present at registration with proof of identification to sign the release form as well.

    “What else should I bring to the registration and audition?”

If you are under 18 years of age, you MUST bring your parent or legal guardian, and your parent and/or legal guardian must bring a photo ID (for example, a driver's license). If you bring a legal guardian (as opposed to a parent), your legal guardian MUST bring proof of guardianship in addition to the photo ID.  You should bring water, as it will likely be hot during the first part of the audition process.

    “Can I bring my friends or family members to the audition?”

    YES! People who are auditioning may bring family and friends with them for the audition. There will be no charge to enter the audition venue but space will be limited and there are no guarantees that your family or friends will be able to enter.

    YES. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign the release form and accompany you to the registration and audition. This does not guarantee that your parent/guardian will be able to watch the actual audition. Should you win this year’s Amarillo Idol contest it will also be necessary for a parent or a legal guardian to accompany you to the American Idol audition*.

    “Can I bring a musical instrument with me to the first round of auditions?”

    You will not be permitted to use a musical instrument during your audition. You may use it privately during your free time during registration.

    “If I have a contract or a manager for anything entertainment related (but not involving music), can I still compete?”

    If you are asked to audition for the semi-final rounds in the Los Angeles, California, area, you MUST be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of producers, before departing for Los Angeles, that you do not have any of the following:

      • a contract for talent representation (for example, a talent agent or manager);
      • a music recording contract;
      • an acting and/or modeling contract;
      • a merchandising agreement; or,
      • any other contractual arrangement that would prohibit you from entering into a management contract, recording contract, talent contract, acting contract and/or merchandising contract.

    “How long am I allowed to sing?”

    During the initial audition, you are limited to 30 seconds to sing for the judges. If you move on to the 2nd round, you can sing up to 60 seconds if time permits. If you progress to the finale and are one of the final 10 contestants, you will be asked to sing 1 song of your choosing acapella and 1 song with musical accompaniment. The judges reserve the right to ask anyone to stop singing at any time during their audition.  Failure to follow the instructions of the judges will cause you to be immediately disqualified from the competition.

    “How many songs should I be prepared to sing?”
    You should prepare to sing at least 2 songs. 1 song of your choosing in its entirety a cappella and 1 song with musical accompanyment.

    “How Many Rounds will there be?”
