CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M University women’s golf coach Meredith Jameson has announced the signing of Amanda Davidson of Ankeny, Iowa, to a national letter-of-intent to attend WTAMU and play for the Lady Buffs during the 2008-09 academic year.

Davidson helped lead Ankeny (Iowa) High School to a first-place finish in the team standings at the 2008 Iowa Class 4A State Golf Meet, while individually she placed runner-up.  During the Spring of 2008, she earned nine individual victories and recorded two sub-par rounds.  In 2007, she qualified for and played in the International Optimist Tournament, held at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.  She also competed in the Callaway Junior Golf Series.

Davidson received all-Academic honors in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She also participated in Business Professionals of America as well as the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

“Amanda will add quality depth to out team this season,” said WTAMU head coach Meredith Jameson.  “She has developed a very competitive attitude, having played in cold, rainy tournaments in the Midwest.  She will play a vital role in our teams success in 2008-09.”

Davidson is the daughter of Julie and Mike Davidson of Ankeny, Iowa.
