He's the soldier accused of lying about military honors he received. The judge read the three charges he has against him. He then looked over all the paperwork, signed them and said he didn't need to change anything on them. McClanahan is charged with lying about getting military medals including three Purple Hearts, lying about getting a Congressional Medal of Honor and falsifying documents to get a car loan from a bank. Before charges were brought against him, McClanahan told several groups how he rescued fellow soldiers. He even said he had a letter from the President. The we called the White House and they said the letter was a fake. We talked with McClanahan's wife outside of court. She says she talked to him about a week ago. She's trying to get an annulment. McClanahan was put on conditional probation. He's allowed to go home, but he can't leave Texas. He also has to have a mental health exam. His arraignment is scheduled for June 13th. |
