AMARILLO---Tonight, the Mayor and the community is thanking our local heroes for putting our country first.
Today is Armed Forces Day.
 It's a day to recognize and honor those brave men, women and veterans serving in the military.
Service men from all over Texas were recognized at the Celebrating Freedom and Honoring Service Banquet at the Civic Center.
The organization America Supports You put on the banquet.
They also paid special tribute to Army Major Matthew Houseal who was killed in Iraq on Monday.
