Reported by: David Martinez Monday, Jul 6, 2009 @10:17pm CDT CARSON COUNTY -- It was a lovers quarrel that ended, with one person dead.
The Carson County Sheriff's office got a desperate 911 call Sunday afternoon that lead them to a cornfield west of Groom. Officials tell us twenty-nine year old Marci Lynne Johnson of Amarillo was fighting for her life when she pulled the trigger and shot and killed her boyfriend, thirty-three year old Josh Robinson, also of Amarillo. Johnson told police Robinson took her to the cornfield, assaulted her, and planned to kill her. During the fight, police say Robinson produced a gun and somehow he was shot once in the upper body. Johnson is charged with manslaughter and was released on a personal recognizance bond. "The fact may be that she was defending herself and if that's the case she doesn't belong in jail. She's gainfully employed. She's living in Amarillo for a while, we don't believe she's a flight risk. She has no criminal history as far as anything violent," says Tam Terry the Carson County Sheriff. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. The couple had been together for less than a year and lived together in Amarillo. |
