Tuesday, Jul 14, 2009 @12:10pm CDT PORTALES -- The City of Portales water system has received the 2009 Good Housekeeping Award by the Southeastern New Mexico Water and Wastewater Association. The Good Housekeeping Award is given annually and determined by a process that compares all water systems within southeastern New Mexico covering from Jal to Clovis, the Texas border west to Roswell, Carlsbad, and Artesia. These water systems are inspected by a group of association members who then determine the award winners for the year. The City of Portales wastewater system also received the 2009 Good Housekeeping Award by the Southeastern New Mexico Water and Wastewater Association for the lagoon type systems that are currently in place. The different type of wastewater facilities are assessed by type of plant. The plaques will be presented to the Portales City Council during the July 6, 2009 council meeting. |
