CLOVIS -- The report card is in for New Mexico schools. And it's not good news for eastern New Mexico. Nine out of 15 Clovis schools did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress standards. Six out of seven Portales schools didn't meet it. And one out of four Clayton schools didn't meet it. A school will fail if one "subgroup" misses the target. Some subgroups are broken down by race. Plus there are groups for poor and special education kids. Administrators historically have said failing an entire school based on one subgroup is flawed.
