  • Bri Winkler
Growing up in Massachusetts, Bri became enamored by the fickle New England weather. Although she loves snow, she decided to go to a more tropical climate for college. Bri became a ‘Cane and majored in Meteorology with a dual minor in Mathematics and Broadcast. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marine and Atmospheric Science from the University of Miami.

Bri interned in the weather department at Miami's NBC affiliate WTVJ and was the weather forecaster for the University of Miami TV’s award winning program, NewsVision. Bri also has experience in research on and off the field through UM’s Rosensteil School of Marine and Atmospheric Science where she assisted with graduate radar analysis.

She knew she picked the right major after the memorable 2005 hurricane season. Hurricane Wilma hit her campus on her birthday and shut the city down. Bri is trading in hurricanes for tornadoes and couldn’t be happier about the switch. She is proud to be part of the KAMR NBC 4 Warn Severe Storm Team and is looking forward to forecasting the ever-changing Panhandle weather.

An avid black coffee drinker, Bri can’t wait to wake you up on Today in Amarillo. A few things Bri likes as much as a good lenticular cloud: working out, any extreme sport, her 6 nephews and tortilla chips.
