Reported by: Adam Bennett Tuesday, Sep 15, 2009 @10:15pm CDT AMARILLO -- If you've ever had trouble hanging a picture in exactly the right spot, this next product may be for you.
Today's Does It Work? item is the Hang and Level. It's a yellow plastic device that promises to take the guesswork out of where to put the nail when hanging pictures. But is it worth your hard-earned cash? Here's how it works: You hang the desired framed picture on the Hang and Level's hook and push in a plastic button with a small nail on the opposite side. This nail makes a small indention in the wall on the spot where the hanging nail should go. The Hang and Level also has a gauge that measures how even your picture is, both horizontally and vertically. Technically the product does work, but using it is a sometimes frustrating process. It requires performing six different steps while juggling simultaneous actions like holding the Hang and Level, keeping the picture straight, and marking a spot on the mall. If it's absolutely necessary to have the picture in an exact spot, the Hang and Level might be worth it. Most people would be better off eyeballing the nail's distance from the top of the frame or measuring it with a tape measure. KAMR gave the product 2.5 stars out of 4. The Hang and Level retails for $14.99. |
