Friday, Oct 16, 2009 @09:34am CDT COLLEGE STATION --- President Obama heads to Central Texas today to join former President George H.W. Bush at an event to promote community service.
The presidential forum is being held at the George Bush Presidential Library Center on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station, Texas. It is meant to be a non-partisan event to celebrate the importance of community service. However, that doesn't mean Obama's visit to the largely conservative college town will necessarily go off without a hitch. The North Houston Tea Party Patriots are already planning to turn out to the Texas A&M campus to protest the Democratic President. Other political demonstrations are expected as well. Former President Bush sent a letter to the university this week asking the student body to be on its best behavior during the forum. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
