ARLINGTON --- It's only 19-years-old but that's ancient in the world of roller-coasters so one of the most iconic but bone-rattling coasters in Texas is going into mothballs, for awhile.
Since 1990, The Texas Giant at Six Flags has been a crowd-pleaser, seeing 23-million riders take their seats for the twisting, teeth-chattering ride on what was once the world's tallest wooden roller-coaster.
Yesterday, nostalgic riders took one more trip through the Texas Giants twists, turns, and wide sweeping drops before the ride closed for a ten-million-dollar face-lift that will give the ride new track, cars and electronic controls.
The Texas Giant is due to reopen in 2011 as Six Flags celebrates its 50th anniversary.
