Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @08:20am CST ARLINGTON --- It's only 19-years-old but that's ancient in the world of roller-coasters so one of the most iconic but bone-rattling coasters in Texas is going into mothballs, for awhile.
Since 1990, The Texas Giant at Six Flags has been a crowd-pleaser, seeing 23-million riders take their seats for the twisting, teeth-chattering ride on what was once the world's tallest wooden roller-coaster. Yesterday, nostalgic riders took one more trip through the Texas Giants twists, turns, and wide sweeping drops before the ride closed for a ten-million-dollar face-lift that will give the ride new track, cars and electronic controls. The Texas Giant is due to reopen in 2011 as Six Flags celebrates its 50th anniversary. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
