Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @10:12am CST KAUFMAN COUNTY --- A custody hearing will be held this morning to determine if the SPCA of Texas will keep a number of animals seized from a Kaufman County property on Tuesday.
SPCA officials seized five cats, four horses, three dogs and two sugar gliders. Officials say one of the horses found in a stall was down and unable to stand, emaciated and covered in open wounds. The other three horses were all tethered to posts in a pasture on the property, and SPCA officials say the were thin to extremely thin and did not have access to food or water. Two of the dogs were also very thin, and the remaining animals had no access to food or water. If the SPCA of Texas is awarded custody, the animals would be evaluated for potential adoption or placement. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
