Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @10:15am CST FORT WORTH --- Metroplex veterinarians are on alert now that a cat in Iowa has tested positive for the H1N1 virus.
Dr. Steve Hotchkiss, a vet with the Hulen Hills Animal Hospital, warns pet owners, quote, "Don't have your cat sleeping with your child that happens to have the flu right now. And, if your cat's sick, keep him out of bed with the kids. And go see your veterinarian." He says the symptoms are the same in cats as in humans. And he says the high risk groups are the same, other health problems, old or young age. Meantime, Dr. Hotchkiss also says there have now been five cases of dogs having the flu confirmed in the area.
