Reported by: Adam Bennett Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @03:21pm CST BUSHLAND -- People in Bushland were still in shock hours after a gas pipeline exploded early Thursday morning, causing a 700-foot-high wall of fire that led to an evacuation of the surrounding residential subdivision.
Neighbors thought the explosion was everything from a bomb to a tornado. One firefighter even described seeing what he called "fire tornados" caused from the high winds and gas exploding from the ground . Neighbors were scared but above all thankful that there were no serious injuries. "Honestly, I'm glad we're all safe," said resident Eddie Fuentes. "I've got my family with me, and we can replace anything." One house, located about fifty yards from the pipeline, was destroyed. Investigators are still looking into what caused the explosion. |
