Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @08:38am CST Many Texans are doing their small part to help the victims of Thursday afternoon's mass shooting at Fort Hood.
Blood centers across the state are opening their doors and extending hours so donors can give life-saving blood products. American Red Cross officials are holding a blood drive today at the One Medical Parkway facility in Farmers Branch until 8:00 tonight. Blood was sent yesterday afternoon to Fort Hood from north Texas, and American Red Cross blood products arrived in Dallas from Tulsa late last night. Officials say those blood products could also be sent to Fort Hood or replace the blood supply shipped yesterday. The American Red Cross is also urging anyone concerned about a loved one at Fort Hood to go to www.RedCross.org and click on the Safe and Well link. They can then enter the name of the person or search to see if their loved one has registered. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
