Reported by: Adam Bennett Saturday, Nov 28, 2009 @11:14pm CST AMARILLO -- High Plains Food Bank is having trouble keeping up with the additional demand caused by 2009's rough economy. But one local coffee shop has come up with a unique way to help out.
The Chase Tower's Ground Cafe held their first ever Coffee Cup Crawl this morning. The almost 8-mile-long bike ride started and ended at the Ground Cafe but included stops at other local coffee shops so riders could fuel up with caffeine while pedaling for a good cause. "We all gathered here today to raise money for the High Plains Food Bank," said rider Stephanie Atkinson. "We're riding to several different locations: Bike Life, Hard Back Cafe, Sunset Center." There was a suggested five dollar donation. About fifty riders took part. |
