Good manners don't just magically appear in the behavior of children, even though we'd probably like for that to happen. Mary Clare Munger, early childhood expert from Amarillo College, has some excellent ideas on how we can make sure our kids know what to do and say when the situation arises.
Some basic rules to remember:
- Teach and coach children at home
- Make sure they can do simple things well: Answer the phone, use the magic words, have table manners.
- Lead by example
