Carthel Named Football Coach of the Year

1-30-06 Canyon - Don Carthel was named Football Coach of the Year by the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame.
Carthel led the Buffs to a 10-2 record in his first year at WT.
He also led the team to the first outright Lone Star Conference Championship since 1986.
