Deaths Up For Youngest Drivers

By: Torre Josey
Updated: February 16, 2012
More young drivers are dying on America's streets and highways, according to a national road safety group.
The Governors Highway Safety Association reports deaths increased more than ten-percent among 16 and 17-year-old drivers during the first six months of 2011, compared to the year before.
Twenty-three states reported increases, 19 saw decreases in young drivers' deaths and eight states and the District of Columbia had no change.
The group says the latest figures come after several years of declines in fatalities among young drivers.
