AMARILLO -- With today's technology connectivity, the Amarillo Public Library is making it easier for patrons to access library assistance with two new services.
Library ELF is an online service that alerts patrons before library materials are overdue by sending email reminders. Subscribers can customize their alert preferences to receive a notice the day before materials are due, or several days earlier. Library Elf will also alert patrons when materials on hold become available and allow families to keep tabs on multiple Amarillo Public Library card numbers.
Text-a-Librarian allows patrons to send a question directly to the library through a mobile phone text. To use the service, patrons simply text askamapl to 66746 and then save 66746 in the mobile phone under the name askamapl. Patrons can then send questions directly to that number where they will be received by the reference staff, who will send the answer back as a reply.
