A Fair Price: Enjoying Fair Won't Break the Bank

Between the price of admission, and buying those tokens that will get you everything from food to a ride on the ferris wheel, it does seem like the fair's expensive.
But what I found out might actually surprise you.
When you break it down, a family of four can get in the door for $30 or $40 dollars.
And then it's really up to you how much you want to spend, including eating dinner and entertainment.
When you compare it to how much it would cost a family to go out to a sit down restaurant, head to the movies, and make a trip to the concession stand, fair officials say the price is pretty comparable.
And plenty of people today who say they are enjoying the fair on a budget.
"This year I think I spent four bucks at the fair. We bought one corn dog, split it, walked around and used my daughter's ticket for one free ride for her. But we do lots of other things to entertain ourselves so we don't find it necessary to spend money here that we don't really have to spend," Fair Attendee, Shannon Kilgore said.

To give you an idea of costs a ride will cost you $5 dollars and most drinks are $4 dollars.
And call it a sign of a recovering economy, Tri-State Fair President Terri Wright says people are spending an average of $3 dollars more per person this year.
