MIDLAND -- Effects from Midland's train accident are being felt across the Texas, as Panhandle residents mourn the loss of Hereford native Sgt. Joshua Michael.

The two time purple heart recipient was courageous to the end, reportedly pushing his wife off of the float just momenhts before impact.

"I think it's his military skills that kicked in, from all of his training and everything he went through," Cory Rogers, Michael family friend said. "He layed down his life and pushed his wife out of harms way."

A memorial for Sgt. Michael will be held Sunday, November 11th at the Panhandle War Memorial. For more information on the war-hero's life, go to sgtjoshuamichael.com.
