UPDATE: Baby Dies in Rush Hour E-Way Wreck

    AMARILLO --      An 18 month-old is dead after an afternoon accident on the Canyon E-way.  
    Police say a Black Tahoe hit a car on the 1600 block of Canyon Drive just before five.
    Three people were inside the car at the time, the baby died at the scene.
    Police tell us an adult and another child are currently in the hospital with injuries.
    The driver of the Tahoe was also taken to the hospital.
    Police had to shut down three lanes of traffic and they completely closed the on and off ramps at the I-27 and I-40 interchanges.
    Right now the accident is still under investigation.  

EARLIER INFORMATION:  There are some injuries in a wreck on the Canyon E-Way. It's slowing down the holiday interstate traffic.

Police say the wreck happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday. It's on the E-Way near the interchange in Amarillo.

We're told two cars are involved.

Police say there are injuries, but they aren't confirming right now how severe those are.

Police are on the scene and directing three of four lanes of traffic into one.

They're urging people to avoid the area until at least 6:30 p.m.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
