AMARILLO -- The American Red Cross in Amarillo is another volunteer to help out with relief to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Shannon Jones left this morning for New York and will work as a client caseworker.
"When natural disasters like Hurricane Sandy happen, its the Red Cross that responds first by having volunteers ready to go at a moments notice," said Steve Pair, executive director, Texas Panhandle.
To date, the two Red Cross chapters in the Panhandle have sent a total of 13 volunteers to help with the Red Cross response to the superstorm.
"We are so proud of all of the volunteers from the Panhandle who have traveled to the east coast to help those impacted by the storm," Pair said. "I truly believe it highlights the generous spirit of the folks who live throughout the Texas Panhandle."
