Wellington Man Sentenced to 28 Years for Beating Grandmother

WELLINGTON -- A Wellington man pleads guilty to Aggravated Assault of a Family Member and is sentenced to 28 years behind bars.
25-year-old Justin Edward Pickard beat his grandmother with a police baton back in September of last year.
"We deal with heinous crimes and unconscionable acts everyday in this job," said Inman. "But a grandson beating his own grandmother with a police baton is unimaginable and this defendant will spend the majority of his adult life behind bars because of his actions."
Aggravated Assault of a Family Memebr it is a first degree felony. He will have to pay a $5,000 fine and $376 in court costs.
Investigators say the victim and Pickard lived in the same home.
