AMARILLO -- 16-year-olds are now eligable to give blood at coffee memorial.
That lowers the age from 17.
Texas law says they need a signed parental consent form.
Coffee Memorial says this will increase their donor pool, and help them get the 100 units they need per day.
They say there is no increased medical risk for 16 year olds. And officials looked at information from other blood centers around the country that have allowed 16 year olds to donate, before they made that decision.
The blood center is in need of both type O-Negative and O-Positive, B-Positive, and A-Negative.
