AMARILLO -- One day after record snowfall brought the Texas panhandle to a stand still, residents are still having a tough time getting around. The snow isn't melting as fast as we would like.
Monday was the big chill. Tuesday was the big thaw.
As residents ventured out for the first time in two days, they're finding the going is still a bit tough.
Major streets and roadways in the city are passable because they were the first to be plowed. That, and the fact those streets are more heavily traveled are making the melting process a little easier. But, turn onto a side street and the adventure begins all over again.
The city of Amarillo and the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) were out all night and day Tuesday clearing the roads. But, travelers can expect a rough go of it the next couple of days as we continue to melt away the blizzard of 2013.
