Update: Industrial Building Burns in North East Amarillo

UPDATE 3/12/13 -- The fire was ruled accidental by fire officials.
Officials say a flammable liquid container was accidently spilled by an employee. The vapors were ignited by an open flame portable heater which resulted in a flash fire of the area. Attempts were made by the employee to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher which were unsuccessful.
The employee was transported to the hospital with possible inhalation injuries. The employee has since been released from the hospital.
UPDATE -- Cpt. Jacob Oehlert with the Amarillo Fire Department told our crew at the scene that there are no injuries with this fire, although it is still burning.
Cpt. Oehlert said they are trying to keep the fire contained to just one building, he does confirm what our crew saw at the scene, some explosions did come from inside the building.
Cpt. Oehlert says they won't know what caused those explosions until the Fire Marshal is able to get inside the building and investigate.
AFD is still asking that drivers avoid that area if at all possible, as roadways are still blocked off.
AMARILLO -- There's been a massive response to a fire in North East Amarillo.
Fire officials are still on the scene near North East 3rd and Roberts, in an industrial area at a business called Medley Material Handling.
Our crew at the scene says they're being held back because there are materials exploding inside the building.
Several blocks surrounding the building are closed to traffic, so avoid that area if possible.
We'll have more on this developing story and footage from the scene tonight on the KAMR NBC4 News at Ten.
