Former Notre Dame Football Player, Rudy Ruettiger, Visits Amarillo

AMARILLO-- Students at Mann Middle School got a bit of motivation and inspiration from famed Notre Dame football player Rudy Ruettiger, whose life is featured in the movie Rudy.
"Through our English/Language Arts classes, all students have viewed an edited version of the movie and discussed several excerpts from his book, 'Rudy's Insights for Winning in Life.' Each student has then been responsible for writing a plan-of-action essay for achieving their own goals for college and career. Student essays were judged by the Mann Leadership Team, and a number of students were chosen to have lunch with Rudy on Friday after the assembly. The staff at Mann want all students to understand and believe that with hard work, college can absolutely be a choice for them as they prepare for life after high school. We want our students to see the successes--and often struggles and sacrifices--that others have made to accomplish these same goals."
