AMARILLO - What's done at the hospital to prevent babies from being snatched away easily? That's a question we asked after hearing about baby Mychael's kidnapping out of Lubbock. Northwest Texas Hospital officials say security cameras are in place throughout the hospital to keep an eye on suspicious activity. Also, a mother and her newborn are both given a security bracelet to wear. "That is an identification band that's placed on the child, and if that band is ever removed from someone other than the appropriate staff member who has the privilages to do that, it will alarm" said NWTH spokeswoman, Caytie Martin. Martin says the nurses who work in the nursery are not only required to wear a hospital i.d. badge, they also have to wear a button that shows they work in the nursery department.
