Seafood-Rich Diet Protects Brain Health

By: Torre Josey
Updated: February 28, 2012
A diet rich in seafood could help protect the brain from the effects of aging.
A new study shows people with low blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids found in fish have slightly smaller brains than people with high levels of the fatty acids.
Researchers say the difference is equal to about two years of normal brain aging.
People with lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids also had lower test scores on memory and cognitive function.
The study is set to appear in the journal "Neurology."
