AMARILLO -  With all the rain the Panhandle has seen lately, it might be time to pull out your lawnmower.

After last year's drought, the recent rain is welcome, but now, the City of Amarillo is watching out for weeds.

According to Scott McDonald, with the City of Amarillo Building Safety Department, all grass and weeds should be at or shorter than six inches. Anything above eight inches is in violation of city ordinance.

These regulations are designed mainly to lessen the risk of fire as things dry out
