Amarillo Zoo will be kicking off the Fourth of July festivities with an American celebration! Come join us Saturday, June 30th for our very own "Red, White and Zoo!. It will be a day of fun-filled activities, live music and patriotic animal enrichments - including a self-guided tour in search of red, white and blue animals, a hula hoop and old fashioned pie eating contest and an endless hot dog buffet (additional fee applies).  Active members of the US military, Police, Fire or EMS will get free admission as our way of saying thanks for their service to our country and community (ID required).
Event highlights:

Watch keepers give the tigers, lions, bears and other animals red, white and blue enrichment treats.
Cheer on Solomon, our male African lion as he attempts to break the 89-second record for eating a 72 oz Big Texan Steak!! - 1:00 pm
o    Presentation by Bobby Lee - Big Texan


- Pie Eating Contest
(registration on event day, space is limited)
(10-12 yr olds: 1:45 p.m.; 13-17 yr olds: 2:15 p.m.; 18 and over: 2:45 p.m.)

- Hula Hoop Contest
(registration on event day, space is limited)
(7-12 yr olds: 10:15 p.m.; 13-17 yr olds: 11:00 p.m.; 18 and over: 11:45 p.m.)

- Scavenger hunt to discover different red, white and blue animals at the zoo
- Live music by Andy Chase Cundiff (11am - 2pm)
- Face painting by Amadazzle (additional fee)
- Patriotic rub-on kid tattoos
- Exhibits by the Amarillo Police and Fire Department

- Endless Hot Dog Buffet (additional fee $6 per person)
