Baseball and Big Events to Help Boost Amarillo's Economy this Summer

AMARILLO - Tuesday night, the Amarillo Dillas baseball team played their first home game of the 2007 season. With dozens more games to play this summer, the Dillas are one reason why Amarillo's economy should get boost. Fans from around the High Plains will visit the city.
Also, the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce announced they're looking forward to nine conventions this summer. All will be at the Amarillo Civic Center . The next one will be the Texas Harley Owners Rally starting on May 17. The biggest one will be the annual Jehovah Witness Convention, which has taken place in Amarillo for more than 20 years. All nine conventions this summer are expected to rake in about nine-million dollars in visitor spending.
