Suspect Caught in Attempted Borger Kidnapping

BORGER -- Borger Police arrested Gerardo Ham and charged him with Unlawful Restraint.
Borger Police say Ham tried to abduct a girl in a Borger Walmart around 1:30 p.m yesterday. He fled after the 8-year-old girl screamed.

During the search for the suspect, a Texas Highway Patrolman called and reported seeing a similar vehicle in the Morse area.
During the Borger Police investigation, Ham was brought to the Police Department and questioned.
Police say during the questioning, other officers located the vehicle from the Walmart surveillance video at Ham's house.
He was arrested and is currently being held at the Borger Police Department. Ham has not been arraigned and no bond has been set.
Ham was found to be in possession of a counterfeit New Mexico driver's license.
Although Ham is Caucasian, he is a resident of Mexico and believed to be an illegal immigrant.
