Updated: September 24, 2012
The University's Community partnership for Learning Disabilities was created to meet the needs of parents, students and teachers, and the Sept. 25 lecture will do just that. Three special guest speakers are scheduled to share their expertise on two different topics.
The day's first presentation begins at 1 p.m. with Dr. Karen Vickery and Dr. Terri Zerfas, who will explore Helping Students with Written Expression. Vickery is director of the Learning Therapy Center at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and a member of the faculty at the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development.
Zerfas, also is a member of the faculty at the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development, an instructor at the Learning Therapy Center at SMU and coordinator of the SMU Diagnostic Center for Dyslexia and Related Orders.
Dr. Maryanne Wolf will close out the lecture series with a presentation on Implications of the Reading Brain for Learning in the Digital Age from 4-6 p.m. She is the John DiBaggio Professor of Citizenship and Public Service, director of the Center for Reading and Language Research and a professor in the Department of Childhood Development at Tufts University.
Dr. Thomas knows to arrive at the station by 3 p.m. If you need any additional information, please feel free to contact me. Thanks, as always, for letting us come and promote WTAMU programs and events.
