AMARILLO -- Middle school girls had a chance to learn about science.

The annual Women in Science Endeavors Workshop kicked off this morning from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

It was at Amarillo College's Washington Street campus.

The event is a series of hands-on interactive workshops led by female professionals in science fields.

"We're getting out at this young age and we're trying to show them science is fun and we need those girls in that work force so we can have a more diverse workforce," Committee Member, Karalee Snyder said.

"I think it's just really fun and I think it's a good way to get more people interested in it," Workshop Attendee, Paxton Bryant said.

Xcel Energy joined with Amarillo College, Pantex, AISD, AACAL, Golden Spread Electric and WTAMU to present the workshop.
