BBB Honor Award Winners

AMARILLO -- Six Amarillo area businesses have been selected to receive the 2012 Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics by the BBB of the Texas Panhandle.
The Torch Awards recognizes companies that exemplify ethical business practices. The 13th annual awards luncheon is today at the Amarillo Civic Center Heritage Room.

This year's recipients of the Torch Awards are:
Allison Welding, Jim Allen, President - BBB Accredited since 1965
Attebury Grain, Inc., Suzanne Boyce, President - BBB Accredited since 1969
Hills Sport Shop, Kirk Hill, President - BBB Accredited since 1967
Hoarel Sign Company, Gary Cox, Owner - BBB Accredited since 1969
Mayfield Roofing, Inc. Ronnie Mayfield, Owner - BBB Accredited since 1969
Ray Electric Company, Jerry Ray, Manager - BBB Accredited since 1969
Included in this year's Integrity Awards is the first Students of Integrity Scholarship Awards. Students who personify ethics in their academic activities, leadership responsibilities, community service, home, church and work environments were asked through their high schools to submit an application. The winners will be presented with a $1,000 scholarship to an accredited college/university of their choice. "We recognize tomorrow's ethical leaders and support their commitment to doing the right thing," said Kiehl.

Amy Weinheimer, Groom High School.
Winners were selected from twenty- two applicants based on an essay they submitted, transcripts and letters of recommendation.
