CLARENDON -- Yesterday around 5:00 p.m., a construction crew in Clarendon struck and damaged a 6-inch water pipe. The pipe affected the water pressure throughout the whole town.
Repairs have been made but because of the diminished water pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the City of Clarendon, to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.
To make sure all water is safe for consumption, water should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. Instead of boiling, anyone can purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify everyone that the water is safe for consumption.
