A Tuesday statement from the USMS says Sitka police
aided in the arrest of Micki Brogdon after a request from marshals. Her
son was placed in the custody of the state Office of Children's Services
pending return to his father.
USMS offices in northern Texas and
Alaska assisted the Amarillo Police Department in tracking down
Brogdon, who was wanted by officers in Amarillo for interference with
child custody after her son was reported missing.
"The USMS
nationwide investigation revealed that (Brogdon) traveled from Texas to
South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Washington and Alaska prior to her
arrest," marshals wrote.
Brogdon was slated to appear before a Sitka court Tuesday, pending extradition to Texas on the outstanding warrants.
Marshals
say Brogdon's son was the 400th child recovered under Operation Pickup,
which targets fugitives believed to be accompanying missing children.
The USMS, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and
various state and local law enforcement agencies are all part of the
collaborative program.
