Two Firefighters Killed, Two Others Shot at Fire in Webster

Two firefighters are dead and two others have been injured after being shot while responding to a fire, and investigators say they were all victims of a trap.
The shooting happened around 6 a.m. Christmas Eve as firefighters were called to reports of a house fire on Lake Road in Webster. Tomasz Kaczowka and Michael Chiapperini were found deceased on the scene. The other two have been taken to Strong Hospital and remain in guarded condition. Police also say a fifth off-duty police officer was injured. The shooter was located and eliminated by gunfire. Investigators have not identified the shooter.
Due to the shooting, firefighters were not immediately able to get to the fire. A total of four homes were completely destroyed and four others were damaged. Strong Hospital is expected to give an update on the condition's of the surviving responders. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
