Amarillo Area CASA Advocate Training

AMARILLO -- The Amarillo Area CASA advocate training starts tomorrow. 
 
The training will go from January 10, 11, 18 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and January 12, 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 112 West 8th, Suite 101
In order to participate, volunteers must be 21 years of age, clear a stringent background check and complete the mandatory thirty hours of training.  In addition, the advocate will observe court in session and become sworn in as an officer of the courts.
The training course will be offered during the day and breakfast will be provided each morning.  The volunteers will have the opportunity to hear from local Child Protective Services Caseworkers, judges, CASA staff and a current volunteer.  These speakers will share their experiences in advocating for abused children.
