BORGER -- An update tonight on a family in Borger looking to stop a spreading problem.

After attempting suicide under the influence, Brandon Gibbs is speaking out on synthetic marijuana.

"Just want to share my testimony," said Brandon. "Try to educate the people on the effects this stuff has had on my life."

Brandon's mom April has been planning a meeting for the city of Borger on the substances effects. But since her son's story has spread, so too has news of the meeting.

"It's just spread like wildfire, said April. "We even have people from Houston and El Paso that are also talking about the synthetics and it's huge."

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place in Borger City Hall, but it instead took place at the local high school auditorium to accomodate the crowd. In addition to hearing Brandon's story, Borger residents learned about the issues behind synthetic drugs.

"I really don't know much at all, another reason why I'm here,"said Joel Arrington of Borger. "It's a very new thing to me and I'm just trying to find out more.''

Although the family is ecstatic about the turnout, the Gibbs say if even one kids life is saved the meeting will be worth the while. But above all, Brandon is just happy to be given a second opportunity.

"I give all glory to god," said Brandon. "I hope that at least one person can take away from it what I've learned and not make the same mistake I did."
