AMARILLO -- Colon Cancer Awareness brought people to the Amarillo Endoscopy Center Saturday, for their second Colon Cancer Run.

Participants ran to increase awareness about colon cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. The run also included food, music, a medal for 5k runners, and KAMR NBC 4's own Meaghan Collier as emcee for the event.

All proceeds benefit Texas Panhandle locals in need of colon screenings.

"It's all being used locally to donate for colonoscopies for people who are underinsured or uninsured," said Dr. Amit Trehan of the Amarillo Endoscopy Center. "We are going to give it away to them for getting their screenings done for colonoscopies, to prevent colon cancer"

There was also prizes given away to the top three costumed runners.

Comments

Colorectal cancer results from poor colon hygiene. Humans were designed to squat to empty the colon completely. The sitting position is unnatural and ineffective for this purpose. Residual wastes adhere to the colon wall, leading to bacterial overgrowth. The result is inflammation and, in many cases, malignant mutations. Worldwide, colon cancer is rare or nonexistent among squatting populations. But as more countries adopt western toilets, they are starting to suffer from western colon diseases like cancer and diverticulosis and Crohn's Disease. This concept is fully explained at http://www.naturesplatform.com/health_benefits.html
