2-year-old Suffers Minor Injuries Trying to Cross the Street Near Elementary School

AMARILLO -- At noon, Police were sent to Avondale Elementary School at 1500 Avondale on a traffic accident involving a 2-year-old child.
When Officers arrived, police were able to determine that the child and guardian were walking across Avondale Street towards the front of the school. They were not in a crosswalk and were going to pick up a sibling from school. The child managed to get away from their guardian and took off running towards the school. The child ran into the side of a Silver Pontiac Grand Am that was traveling southbound on Avondale.
The child suffered minor injuries and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
