Amarillo -- Some of the countrys lowest-paid workers got a pay raise today, as the national minimum wage hike went into effect. Today minimum wage went from $5.15 to $5.85 an hour. This is the first increase in about ten years. Local workers say they are glad to get the extra money, and managers say it will boost employee incentive. This is the first of three increases. By July 2009, minimum wage will be $7.25.
