PORTALES, N.M. - Freshman Ben Everson and junior Itamar Keinan each scored twice, raising their season totals to six and three, respectively, as the Buffaloes dominated a 7-1 victory over the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Kenneth Christensen scored his second goal of the season on a penalty kick in the second half, while junior Tommy Nutter and sophomore Aaron Thornton also each scored their first goals of the season for the Buffs.

Keinan opened the Buffs' scoring when he headed the ball off a served corner kick by Jacob Fynboe Jensen in the 9th minute. Everson scored next when senior Kenneth Christensen sent a long ball to the top of ENMU's box from the Buffs' defensive end. Everson one-touched a lofted shot over both the Greyhounds' lone defender and goalkeeper Leif Craddock to put the Buffs up 2-0.

WTAMU exploded in the second half, scoring four more goals to put the game away. Craddock came out and tackled Brad Sanderson on a break away, receiving a red card. Nutter took the free kick and scored at 50:47.

In the 62nd minute, WTAMU earned a penalty kick when Keinan was taken down in the box. Christensen took the kick for the Buffs and his goal put them up 4-0.

At 69:20, Everson sent a beautiful ball from the right side to the far post and Thornton headed it in for his first goal of the year. Everson then tallied his second goal of the match just under three minutes later when he one-timed the ball in off of a beautiful far post cross from senior René Gómez.

Eastern New Mexico tallied their goal on a penalty kick that they earned when goalkeeper Chris Chiakpo came out and fouled the Greyhound attacker on a break away in the 88th minute. Ryan McClanahan fired a shot that was called back, then on his second attempt, Chiakpo made the save but the ball bounced right back to McClanahan who buried the ball from two yards into the open net.

Keinan rounded out the Buffs scoring when Gómez crossed the ball from the right side to the middle of the box and he shot the ball to the left corner. The Buffalo defense held the Greyhounds to just one shot on goal. Chiakpo finished with two saves in 21:53 minutes of play, including one save on Eastern New Mexico's penalty kick. With the win, the Buffs improved to 6-1, 3-1 in the SSC, while the Greyhounds fell to 3-6, 1-3 in the conference.

WTAMU's next game is Sunday, when they host St. Mary's at 1 p.m. at The Pitch.
