Three Lady Buffs Earn LSC Honors

CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M volleyball team comes out of Topeka, Kan., with honors in hand as three Lady Buffs nabbed Offensive, Defensive and Setter of the Week awards following their 2-2 finish against three ranked opponents in the 2007 Premier Mortgage Washburn Lady Blues Classic.
Sophomore middle blocker Melissa Harper was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week as she posted 58 kills over four matches. She also dominated the net on defense, racking up 12 total blocks (five solo, seven assissted).
Junior libero Sara Contreras took the Defensive Player of the Week award after recording 82 digs en route to the squad's two wins. This is the second consecutve week that Contreras has earned such honors.
Sophomore setter Katie Rickwartz was awarded with LSC Setter of the Week recognition for her efforts as she piled up 201 assists for an average of 13.40 assists per game. This marks the fourth time this season that Rickwartz has received Player of the Week honors; she has compiled 1,113 assists on the season, ranking her among the conference leaders.
The Lady Buffs are next in action as they host St. Mary's on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at "The Box," then travel to conference foes Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce at the end of the week.
