CANYON, Texas - North meets South on Saturday evening in Canyon as the two division leaders in the Lone Star Conference, Central Oklahoma and West Texas A&M, square off in a 6 p.m. LSC crossover contest.

The fourth-ranked Buffs enter the weekend 9-0 for the first time in program history and lead the LSC South Division with a perfect 5-0 mark, while the Bronchos are 4-4 on the year and 3-1 in North Division play. WTAMU leads the overall LSC standings with a 7-0 mark.

The Buffs hope to be boosted this week by the return of starting quarterback Keith Null, who sat out last week’s win over Angelo State with an injury. If Null can not go, redshirt freshman Taylor Harris stands ready after throwing 314 yards and four touchdowns against the Rams. Running back Keithon Flemming enters the weekend needing only five yards to become the first WT rusher to top 1,000 yards since the 2000 season when DeWayne Miles rushed for 1,524 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior defensive end Brand Swain, who took home LSC Defensive Player of the week honors following the ASU victory, will look to add to his LSC leading sack total of eight.

Central Oklahoma has been carried by its defense this season, which enters the weekend ranked first in the LSC in total defense, limiting opponents to just 275.8 total yards per game, and passing defense, holding opponents to an average of 152.5 yards through the air. The Bronchos are led by standout linebacker Will Clewis, who ranks second in the conference with 90 total tackles after garnering preseason LSC North Division Defensive Player of the Year accolades in the offseason. Offensively, Central Oklahoma features a balanced attack, averaging 155.8 yards through the air and 151 yards on the ground per contest.

West Texas A&M vs. Central Oklahoma History
(UCO leads 10-6-1)

The Buffs and Bronchos have met on the gridiron seventeen times since 1930 and the Bronchos have commanded the lead of the series since its inception. Between 1930 and 1935, the two teams met five times, which included three UCO wins, a WTAMU win and a tie. Prior to the last two seasons when the Buffs emerged victorious, West Texas A&M had lost six straight to Central Oklahoma dating back to the 1990 season.
