CANYON, Texas - A day after handing 24th ranked Angelo State a loss in a wild 19-18 affair, the West Texas A&M baseball team could not continue its furious offensive attack on Saturday, dropping both games of a doubleheader at Conner Park, 26-1 and 7-2.

The Buffs fall to 7-16 on the season and 4-13 in Lone Star Conference South Division play, while Angelo State improves to 19-8 on the season and 14-4 in league action.

During game one, the Buffs were out-hit 22-7 and only were able to push a single run across on a ASU error in the third inning.

Game two saw WT fall behind by a score of 3-0, but the Buffs battled back to cut the deficit to only one with a two-run homer from Kevin Els. The Rams, however, secured the victory with a four-run seventh inning.

West Texas A&M will attempt to salvage a spilt in the four-game set during the series finale, which is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch from Conner Park on Sunday.
